| Information about the AOL Browser | |
| What is the AOL Browser ? | There are many different versions of browser issued to AOL users. To date, the biggest issue is based on Internet Explorer 3. |
| Does it work with the 1212 online ordering program ? | Well we have good news..... Every AOL user has a separate installation of Internet Explorer (accessible from the Start menu in Win32 operating systems). This browser works well in all respects. The bad news is that that the AOL start-up window uses a distinct version of the Internet Explorer browser for accessing the web. It is very similar - to the extent that one might think they were one and the same. (To some extent they may share code). This 'internal' browser works well in browsing the site, but FAILS - as at our last test - to submit orders successfully. In fact it fails to submit even simple forms for some reason. It is a defect that has nothing whatsoever to do with javascript . |
| Can AOL users use other browsers ? | Yes they can fire up other browsers such as the 'external' Explorer or Netscape, if they happen to have it, once they have the connection. |
| CompuServe belongs to AOL. What of that ? | With tests on Compuserve software based on IE3 we had no difficulty in sending orders. |
